About the opportunity
The Network & Field Application Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and management of the Network & Field Applications within the organisation. This role involves ensuring the efficient and effective use of SAP and non-SAP applications to support business processes, managing a team of functional / application specialists, and collaborating with various departments to optimise system performance and functionality.
It is accountable for developing and providing ongoing centralised services for SA Power Networks covering the areas of Strategy, Governance, Production Support, Project Support, Testing Support, Licence Management, Vendor Relationship Management.
Key role objectives include
Strategic: Contribute to the creation and direction setting of roadmaps, strategy, and associated service offerings, ensuring alignment with Digital & Technology strategies. Demonstrate the ability to think strategically about future business, product, and technical challenges to take advantage of efficiencies, cost savings, and quick innovation.
System Management: Deliver and support the performance of the Application Managed Service (AMS) contract. Oversee the maintenance, configuration, and reliability of Network and Field applications.
Team Leadership: Acquire and manage talent within the team, ensuring an appropriate blend of skills aligned to current and future technology roadmaps.
Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement solutions to enhance operational efficiency.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Represent SA Power Networks at external forums and industry working groups, provide strategic advice, and facilitate relevant system changes. Ensure that appropriate risk, quality, customer focus, and safety management frameworks are consistently applied and managed through SLAs and OLAs with internal and external service providers as appropriate.
Troubleshooting: Address and resolve system-related issues, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
Reporting: Generate and present regular reports on system performance, project progress, and other relevant metrics.
Essential role requirements
Degree level qualifications in IT or business management and/or equivalent skills and knowledge gained through experience.
Extensive experience in leading an application operational support asset management process supporting a complex landscape of business systems, while meeting agreed Service Level Agreements and a track record of developing strong business relationships.
