About the role
As a Senior Network Planning Engineer, you will conduct geographically-based network planning, ensuring that the distribution network meets changes in electrical demand, including industrial growth, housing development and emerging technologies like batteries and datacentres. This will include assessing the impact of customer connections and long-term master-planning, ensuring that quality of supply and reliability is maintained for new and existing customers. You will develop innovative commercial engineering solutions to meet customer and network needs, from high to low voltage. South Australia has world-leading uptake and integration of variable renewable energy and distributed energy resources, necessitating planning engineers who can adapt our network for the energy system of the future.
In addition to your technical responsibilities, you will play a key role in decision‑making within the team and will be responsible for building, developing, and supporting the capability of the engineering team, fostering a skilled and adaptable workforce aligned with the needs of the future energy system.

About you
To excel in this role, you will have:
- A degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Extensive experience in network planning, power system analysis, and project management.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and develop engineering teams.
- A strategic mindset with a focus on innovation and sustainability.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- A commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes for customers and the business.
- Experience in professional development of others.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct detailed power system analysis to identify network constraints and develop innovative engineering solutions to address them.
- Drive investment decision-making for the Capacity Augex program using cost-benefit analysis and risk-cost quantification.
- Lead the development of guidelines and standards to optimise network operations and capital costs while maintaining quality and reliability standards.
- Develop and implement geographically based regional development plans for the entire network.
- Collaborate with customers, community groups, and internal teams to resolve network capacity, quality, and reliability issues.
- Strengthen the technical capabilities of the Capacity Planning team through mentoring, knowledge transfer, and structured development initiatives.
- Provide technical advice to Asset Operations teams on network constraints, customer capacity, reliability, and quality of supply issues.
- Manage complex projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Responsible for strengthening the engineering and technical capability of the Capacity Planning teams.
