About the role
We’re looking for an experienced and capable Senior Substation Engineer to provide technical leadership, deliver high-quality engineering outcomes, and support the design and integration of critical substation infrastructure.
This is an opportunity to play a key role in delivering safe, reliable and compliant substation designs while mentoring engineers and contributing to a highly capable, connected workforce.

About you
Provide technical leadership, mentoring, training and direction to substation engineers and project teams
Provide specialist technical advice across the business on substation-related matters
Deliver professional engineering services for substation design, including:
- Primary systems
- Earthing
- Electrical interference
- Electrical design
Prepare, assist, review and analyse:
- Complex technical studies
- Project scopes
- Technical specifications
- Drawings
Coordinate and technically lead assigned engineering and design project teams
Ensure projects are appropriately planned and that required design processes are followed, including design reviews and Safety in Design reviews
Manage scope, design budgets, schedules, technical communication and design integration across disciplines
Ensure all designs comply with:
- Relevant design standards
- Statutory regulations
- Australian Standards
Provide engineering and technical support through all phases of the project lifecycle
Essential:
· A degree in Electrical, Electronic, Mechatronic or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent skills and knowledge gained through experience
· Eligibility for admission as a Corporate Member of Engineers Australia
· CPEng status is desirable
· A current Class C driver’s licence
· Extensive experience in a similar engineering role within the electrical industry
· Demonstrated experience in substation engineering, design leadership and multidisciplinary coordination
· Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
· The ability to lead teams, mentor engineers and drive high technical standards
