The Communications & Engagement team in Customer & Strategy are seeking applications for a Media Lead to join the team.

 

Reporting to the External Affairs Manager, the Media Lead oversees SA Power Networks' media and external communications strategy to safeguard and strengthen the organisation's brand, reputation, and support the Corporate Vision. This role is responsible for developing, executing, and managing SAPNs Media Strategy across mainstream media, digital platforms, and paid campaigns, ensuring alignment with the Brand Framework, messaging, tone, and visual standards.

 

The Media Lead collaborates with Corporate Communications, External Affairs, Customer Experience, and senior leaders to lead media strategy, manage issues and crises, and position SAPN as a respected voice on energy issues.

Many of our salaries are positioned well above industry standard, with this role offering a starting annual base salary of $160,088.45, Grade 8 Level 1.

About you

We are seeking applications from strategic minded communications/public relations leads with extensive experience in successfully partnering within a complex, multi-disciplinary corporate or government environment to deliver effective media and external communications strategies.

 

  • Degree qualifications in a communications-related discipline (communications, marketing, public relations) or equivalent skills & knowledge gained through experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in high-level communications creation, including CEO presentations, speeches, promoting advocacy initiatives, media releases, and ministerial briefings.
  • Extensive experience in media, including crisis communication.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proven capability in preparing spokespeople and ensuring readiness to deliver proactive, insight-driven, and effective media engagement.
  • Strong awareness of political and environmental factors influencing communications.
  • Experience refining external draft communications from the business, ensuring alignment with political and environmental considerations.
  • Versatile and multi-skilled, capable of managing diverse responsibilities.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated high-level work ethic and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Calm and composed under pressure.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver strategic guidance and effectively collaborate with diverse cross-functional teams.
  • Experience building trusted relationships with senior stakeholders, influence decision making, and communicate clearly and confidently in challenging or ambiguous situations.
