Reach new heights with a Powerline Apprenticeship at SA Power Networks
Our Apprenticeship Program gives you all the training and support you need to thrive and will set you up with a career, rather than just a job.
As South Australia’s electricity distributor, SA Power Networks builds and maintains the poles, wires and substations that deliver power expertly and safely to South Australians.
In gaining an Apprenticeship with SA Power Networks, you will play a big part in helping us deliver an essential service for your community, along with joining an organisation that values safety and diversity, and recognises success.
As an Apprentice with SA Power Networks, you will enjoy:
-
Hands-On and Varied Work: Work outdoors in a hands-on role where no two days are the same, all while making a difference in your community.
-
Long-Term Opportunities: Build a stable and rewarding career with plenty of room for growth, supported by ongoing training and development.
-
Supportive Work Environment: Join a welcoming, inclusive team with a strong safety culture.
-
Competitive Remuneration & Benefits: Earn above-award wages (including for mature-aged apprentices), plus allowances, overtime, and up to $900 annually towards your electricity bill.
We are seeking Powerline Distribution Apprentices to join our team at the Murray Bridge Depot, with positions starting in May 2026.
The opportunity
Through this four-year apprenticeship, you’ll gain the skills and experience needed to construct and maintain both overhead and underground powerlines and structures - from the poles and wires you see in the streets to the underground network beneath your feet. You’ll also learn to install and maintain public lighting systems, connect customers to the grid, and respond to emergencies caused by weather events.
At the completion of your apprenticeship, you’ll earn the nationally recognised Certificate III in ESI - Distribution Overhead (UTE30621) and a restricted electrical worker’s licence, equipping you with the qualifications to work in this essential and rewarding field.
Your work will include:
-
Installing and maintaining overhead structures, transformers, and circuit breakers.
-
Jointing and terminating underground distribution cables.
-
Maintaining energised high and low voltage distribution lines.
-
Diagnosing and repairing faults on the network.
-
Performing emergency response work to restore power during outages.
If you’re looking for a role that’s hands-on, varied, and makes a real difference in your community, this is the opportunity for you!
