About the role

SA Power Networks is seeking a strategically minded leader with operational experience to join the team in Asset Management and Operations.

A business-critical role, the Vegetation Manager is responsible for the strategic and operational management of SA Power Networks' Vegetation Services, ensuring the protection and reliability of its assets, the consistent delivery of power to homes, and the safety of the community. This encompasses the development and implementation of financial, risk, resource, and engagement strategies to drive continuous improvement and ensure compliance with the Electricity Act 1996 and its associated regulations.

The role involves providing operational leadership to the vegetation team, managing key contractors, and fostering strong internal and external relationships to achieve collaborative outcomes across the industry.

Other role responsibilities:

  • Oversee the operational and financial management of vegetation programs, ensuring compliance with the Electricity Act 1996 and associated regulations.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to prioritise work programs that meet business and legislative obligations.
  • Monitor and manage contractor performance to ensure work is delivered safely, meets quality standards, and complies with contractual and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide leadership to the vegetation work group, promoting a vision and culture that drives productivity, continuous improvement and business success.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, external stakeholders, and contractors to improve customer service and ensure risk management.

About you  

We are seeking applications from strategic minded people leaders with extensive experience in a senior operational management role. The ideal candidate will have a proven history of successfully managing and delivering large-scale operational programs of work.

  • Outstanding leadership abilities, being highly visible, actively engaged, collaborative and well-respected, while inspiring and motivating teams to achieve high performance and effectively drive transformation initiatives.
  • Demonstrated knowledge about regulatory compliance, and its application in operations.
  • Contractor management and performance oversight, exhibiting strong financial acumen.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management experience, both internally and externally, to influence and drive collaborative outcomes.
  • Proven ability to think strategically with a holistic view lens across various aspects of business with interrelated operations and interdependencies.
  • An understanding of political and environmental factors impacting operations and communications, coupled with sound decision making skills to minimise business risk and exposure.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively present and engage in community forums.
