We’re seeking a detail-focused and outcomes-driven Vegetation Management Officer to join our Vegetation Services team. This role supports SA Power Networks in meeting its regulated obligations for vegetation clearance and safety across the distribution network, in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective way.

You’ll undertake assurance activities in the field to assess vegetation management compliance across the distribution network. This includes inspecting vegetation clearances, verifying that work meets safety and regulatory standards, and supporting the effective delivery of SA Power Networks’ vegetation management program.

You’ll work closely with contractors and internal stakeholders to address non-compliance and contribute to practical, field-based solutions that align with regulatory expectations.

We’re seeking candidates with experience in compliance, auditing, operational assurance, or vegetation management (preferred but not essential). Success in this role requires a practical mindset, strong attention to detail, and the confidence to communicate clearly in field-based environments. This is a valuable opportunity to support the delivery of compliance within SA Power Networks’ vegetation management program, working as part of a collaborative and high-performing team.

About you  

  • A solid understanding of vegetation management regulations and practices, particularly under the Electricity Act 1996 and the Principles of Vegetation Management 2020—or the ability to quickly develop this knowledge through relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in assurance or compliance-focused activities, ideally within vegetation management or a comparable sector such as infrastructure, utilities, or environmental services.
  • Strong capability in interpreting and applying legislation, policy, and operational processes, with a focus on aligning field practices to regulatory and organisational requirements.
  • Clear, confident communication skills with the ability to manage challenging conversations and build constructive relationships with contractors, customers, and internal stakeholders.
  • A solutions-oriented approach to resolving issues through respectful, outcome-driven conversations that support compliance and effective collaboration.
  • A proactive mindset with a continuous improvement focus—driving better systems, performance, and delivery outcomes.
  • Analytical and reporting skills, with the ability to interpret field data and translate insights into meaningful input for operational and strategic decisions.

Role requirements

  • Cert III Arboriculture (desired)
  • Cert II Distribution Powerline Awareness (desired)
  • Drivers licence essential
