About the role 

SA Power Networks has an exciting opportunity for a WHS Field Consultant to join the Asset Management & Operations team in a permanent capacity. 

Reporting to the Asset Management and Operations - Substation and Engineering Services HSE & Risk Manager, the WHS Field Consultant provides specialised services to Major Projects project managers, employees, and contractors. This includes WHS advice, safety leadership, mentoring and coaching which ensures operational activities comply with WHS legislation and SA Power Networks procedures.  

Key role objectives: 

  • Provide WHS advice and assistance to the Project and Construction team including Project Managers, Designer, Site Supervisors and Team Leaders.  
  • Conduct/assist/advise with incident investigation and recommend corrective actions.   
  • Monitor and audit WHS compliances on construction sites.  
  • Review and provide feedback on Safe Work Method Statements.  
  • Ensure National WHS Legislation is correctly implemented.  
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Safety Management Plans for major projects.  
  • Facilitate Major Project Risk Workshops in consultation with internal stakeholder and contractors.  
  • Assist key contractors to meet WHS requirements.

About you 

  • The incumbent must have prior experience in a similar role working in an aligned industry or construction.
  • Incident investigation experience and undertaking workplace risk assessments.
  • Motivated and enthusiastic team player, always seeking progress and improvements. 
  • Strong communication and collaborative skills essential for stakeholder engagement. 
  • Complex problem-solving skills with experience presenting advice and recommendations to stakeholders at all levels to influence and deliver change initiatives
  • Current First Aid Certificate. 
  • Cert IV in Work Health and Safety Management (or equivalent skills and experience). 
  • WHS technical knowledge and knowledge of WHS legislation. 
  • Current unencumbered SA Driver’s Licence.
